Why We Must Reject the Idea of a One World Government
The current year has been an exciting one in the fashion world. As a result of last year's successes, there was a wave of interest in streetwear brands and social influencers, and 2023 was once again dominated by trends which began in 2022. Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci, among other luxury labels, have continued to influence society via their powerful advertisement campaigns. In fact, the most popular fashion brand of the previous decade, Louis Vuitton, broke its sales record in 2022. Advertising campaigns which feature minimalism, sustainability and body positivity will continue to be important aspects of 2023, and 2024. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to influence fashion trends, with the rise of 'virtual' clothing and the use of 3D printing, which allows for the creation of customized outfits. This year has also seen the debut of numerous new fashion labels, who have taken risks to revolutionize their respective markets. However, due to the negative influence of social media, it seems that 'influencer culture' has started to dictate fashion trends, while 90% of people can no longer go out without 'influence'. This is the result of the constant cycle of following celebrities on social media platforms and only being able to accept what they see from them. Thus, the 57th Academy Awards presented the most powerful message - "inspiration is everything". We believe that as time goes on and the technology continues to improve, we will see more diverse perspectives and more personal creativity.
