President Donald Trump Threatens to Close U.S. Border If Democrats Win 2020 Election
In recent times, American president Joe Biden has repeatedly called for stricter measures against COVID-19 cases. It is expected that he will bring up issues related to COVID-19 when he meets with President Mexico's Andrés Manuel López Obrador during the annual meeting of OAS leaders this week. López Obrador has hinted at proposals for reopening ports and increasing trade with the US.
There are many reasons why a port closure is important for both countries. On one hand, it creates a free-trade zone for both the US and Mexico, allowing for more goods to flow freely into and out of the country. This boosts tourism, job creation, and overall economic growth. Additionally, the US needs to make sure that it receives the goods it needs for its citizens, including food and other supplies. It would also help promote economic stability for both countries if Mexican businesses were not forced to operate outside their borders.
On the other hand, a port closure can cause disruption of supply chains, harming global supply lines, which can lead to shortages and other consequences.
