Colorado Mall Shooting Leaves One Dead, Two Injured on Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve had been looking to be a peaceful holiday for many in the state of Colorado. However, that turned out to be a lie when a shooting occurred at a popular mall in Denver. According to reports, the shooting happened around 9 pm local time on December 24th. The shots were fired by one individual who has been identified as 31-year-old John Smith. He is believed to have entered the mall through a freestanding walkway, called an “all-in door.”
The shooting resulted in the death of one person, a 58-year-old man named Tom Johnson. The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was known to reside in Colorado for years, but his family is now based out of California. Johnson was found outside the mall by security guards after they received calls about gunshots being fired.
According to witnesses, a commotion was seen happening inside the mall before the sounds of gunshots were heard. It is believed that Smith had been struggling with mental health issues prior to the incident.
Two other individuals were injured in the shooting. One of them, a 46-year-old woman from New York, sustained multiple injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A 30-year-old man from Virginia was also injured in the shooting and is currently receiving medical attention.
Smith’s motive for the shooting remains unclear. However, it is believed that he may have been suffering from mental health issues.
