Egyptian team Al Ahly faces Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds in their group stage match of FIFA Club World Cup

It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Al Ahly Egypt to the FIFA Club World Cup this year in Japan, following their impressive performance last season in the African Champions League. They were the first team from Africa to win the competition since its introduction in 2016, and have been eager to build on their achievement this season. Now they will have the opportunity to make history once again when they face Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan in the round of 16. This is a historic moment for both clubs and for the country of Egypt as it will be the first time ever that an African side takes part in the club world cup tournament after a long gap of 25 years since Morocco’s Olympic tournament title victory. Our expectation was to see a very tight contest where both teams would be fighting hard in the midfield to gain possession of the ball, but since Urawa are considered one of the strongest teams in Asia this year, we expect Al Ahly to put up a fight but not necessarily dominate completely. The key battle we see in this match is whether Al Ahly can stop a resurgent Urawa who looked at times last season almost unstoppable in the last 18 months of the year. Another highlight in the match we expect to see is the form of Mohamed Salah, who has been in excellent form throughout the pre-season. He scored 2 goals in the final against TP Mazembe during the CAF confederation cup, scoring another brace against Benin national football team during a friendly game a few days before. We believe his recent run of form continues and he should be able to inspire Al Ahly to a memorable victory. Overall our prediction goes to Al Ahly.
