Train Strike Ends but Continued Disputes Affect Railway Services Across Europe

France's public transport operators have started offering services to cross-border commuters for Christmas this year after a three-month strike ended.
Several train lines have been reopened and passengers can return to their usual habits.
The European Union has said that France must make sure its railways stay open before it can join up with other EU rail networks.
But for now, cross-channel services are on offer on certain trains that run between Britain and France or vice versa.
The situation is improving across the rest of Europe but trains to Italy and Spain remain suspended due to the same dispute.

French railway workers called off a nationwide strike last week but have still failed to resolve a pay row, the European Transport Workers Federation said today. The country's main labour unions had called the strikes to protest the cuts to wages and pension arrangements.
