Vermont faces many challenges such as unemployment rate, opioid addiction and cost of living among others.

As reported by the Vermont Agency for the Arts, Vermont is currently experiencing a high unemployment rate of 5% and the state continues to struggle with opioid addiction. Despite these challenges, the majority of Vermonters believe that high-quality healthcare, including access to care, quality of care, and affordability, should be a priority.

According to a recent poll conducted by the Vermont Agency for the Arts, housing is Vermont's biggest concern, with 80% of respondents identifying it as their top priority. For those struggling with homelessness, finding stable and affordable housing has become a significant challenge. According to the Vermont Agency for the Arts, nearly half of the state's residents are unsheltered, and more than 27,000 households are living in shelters. The high cost of housing in Vermont makes it difficult for many families to afford a home, and there have been reports of people having to move into shelters due to evictions or financial hardship.

The cost of living in Vermont is also a major concern for many residents. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median rent for an apartment in Vermont is $954 per month, which is significantly higher than the national average. Additionally, the cost of goods and services in Vermont is also higher than the national average, making it challenging for business owners to stay competitive. Many local businesses have had to cut costs and reduce staff to keep up with rising expenses, resulting in a lower quality of life for residents.

Public safety is another issue that is concerning many Vermonters. With opioid addiction being a significant problem in the state, law enforcement agencies have been overwhelmed with requests for help. In 2018, the Vermont state troopers responded to over 16,000 calls involving opioids, drugs, or other controlled substances. Many Vermonters worry about the safety of their communities as they continue to deal with these issues.

Despite these challenges, the majority of Vermonters believe that quality healthcare should be prioritized. This includes access to care, quality of care, and affordability. According to the Vermont Agency for the Arts, nearly two-thirds of respondents believe that high-quality healthcare should be a priority in Vermont. There are currently several hospitals and medical centers in Vermont, including the Burlington VNA Medical Center and the Waterbury Medical Group, which provide comprehensive healthcare services to residents. However, there are still many challenges facing healthcare providers in the state, such as long wait times and limited resources.

In conclusion, while housing, cost of living, and public safety are major concerns for many Vermonters, the majority believe that quality healthcare should be a priority. It is important for healthcare providers in Vermont to continue working towards providing access to high-quality care, ensuring affordability, and improving quality of care to meet the needs of their patients and communities.
