Police killing of protester sparks outrage

I believe that, despite their recent losses, the Republican Party still has their priorities in place, despite their recent loss of majority seats in the Senate and House of Representatives. This could be due to the fact that many voters, especially younger voters, did not choose Republicans over Democrats. Another reason for this loss is the fact that the GOP had been very vocal against impeaching President Obama during his time in office. This could cause a shift in the political climate, which can negatively affect the GOP.

However, there are still many ways in which the Republican Party can make gains and recover in the upcoming elections. One way to do this is by using the current unpopularity of the Democratic Party and focusing more on economic issues rather than healthcare. Some Republicans have said that they plan on putting more emphasis on tax cuts and entitlement reform when discussing policy with voters. Another way to make gains is to win back the hearts and minds of conservatives who may have been turned off by the recent policy decisions of the Trump administration. To do this, Republicans can continue to stress the importance of lowering taxes, reducing regulations, and cutting spending on social programs to benefit the general population, rather than just the wealthy. In addition, Republicans must also work on maintaining strong relationships with the LGBTQ+ community, despite the party's past stance against LGBTQ+ rights and marriage equality. Without the GOP working towards rebuilding relations with the community, it will be even harder for them to gain voters.
