This article explains different ways to study history, the importance of it and provide examples of each methodology.

History is the record of events that has taken place in the past. It can be recorded through oral traditions, documents such as letters, diaries, and histories, art, artifacts and photographs among other things. History can also be understood through science. There are three methods of studying history.
Firstly, history can be studied through archaeology; where man-made objects, natural objects and fossils are excavated and analyzed to learn about past events. Secondly, history is studied by the study of literature, which deals with how people lived, worked, and interacted in the past. Finally, the third method is by reading written accounts, both historical and contemporary, of what has occurred in the past.

All these methods combined provide us with a clear understanding of the past, allowing us to learn from it, avoiding repeating its mistakes and build on its achievements.
